Identification:
-Simple leaf, glossy above, pubescent below
-Yellow or orange fruit, 1 ½ inches in diameter on female trees in fall
-Bark forms large square sections on mature trees.
Note: A native species highly adaptable to a wide variety of soil types, but rarely seen in the nursery industry. Used as a rootstock for the more popular Japanese Persimmon - Diospyros kaki. Native trees become an important food source for wildlife. In the landscape, fruit may become messy.
